Cork is an eco-friendly, rapidly renewable resource. It is acquired by stripping the outer bark from the cork oak tree. Because the bark grows back, regular harvesting does the tree no harm; the outer bark can be stripped again every nine years.
 

The production process is also environmentally friendly. The cork sheets and/or pieces are cured, boiled and pressed. Scraps are collected for reuse; this means that very little product is wasted.
 

Cork is also water resistant. The natural waxy substance that is inherent in cork, called suberin, makes it mold and mildew resistant as well. Because of this, cork is an ideal flooring alternative to allergen-collecting carpet.

Maintenance:

1. Sweep or vacuum daily to remove dust and dirt. If necessary, clean with a wet mop using a regular neutral cleaner/degreaser.

2. Periodic cleaning: Clean the floor with a damp mop and a regular neutral cleaner/degreaser.

3. Optional: Spray buff using a neutral spray buff floor finish and a 175 - 350 r/min buffer equipped with a white pad.
